About IntegrityMatters
IntegrityMatters is an online integrity assessment, designed to highlight scenarios practitioners may face in day to
day working life. This unique tool developed by the CISI highlights the importance of integrity and
enables users to assess their ability to make ethical decisions in the workplace. IntegrityMatters consists of a
guidance video and an assessment designed to make users aware of the need to act with integrity when making
decisions in the workplace.
It is agreed that taking an assessment doesn't necessarily determine whether you are ethical. However, the rationale
is that by completing this assessment, practitioners will be encouraged to think about how to act with integrity and
be able to recognise situations and determine how best to respond.
Over 100,000 professionals have now taken the IntegrityMatters assessment and passing it is a requirement for all
members wishing to become personally Chartered. Members are encouraged to retake IntegrityMatters at least once
every five years.

Before taking the assessment, please watch our short guidance video which has been designed to take you through step
by step and give you an insight of what to expect.
The assessment itself could take you up to an hour to complete, so please make sure you give yourself plenty of time
to complete it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What format does it take?
There are six separate scenarios to work through. In each scenario, how it will develop depends on how you answered the previous question. In some cases, depending upon your response, the answer will end after a few questions, while in others it may take much longer. Each scenario enables you to score between 0 and 4 marks.
What is the pass mark?
To obtain a Pass a candidate will need to achieve a score of 19 or above.
How long does the assessment take?
The assessment is likely to take between 45 and 60 minutes.
Is it multiple choice?
IntegrityMatters is not a typical multiple-choice assessment. Although you are required to choose one course of action from a choice of three, the choice that you make determines the question that you are offered next.
Where can I sit the assessment?
You can sit the assessment anywhere that you have access to the internet.
Is my result available to my employer?
If your employer paid for your assessment, the result will be available to them.
Can I take the assessment as often as I like?
Members are encouraged to take IntegrityMatters at least once every five years. There is no charge for members to retake the assessment. Members can only successfully complete IntegrityMatters twice in 6 months.

Is there a sample assessment?
The guidance video takes you through the assessment and provides an insight into what to expect.
What feedback is provided?
Your result provides a grade and the total score. There are 6 scenarios, each of which carries a maximum of 4 marks. You do not receive specific feedback on each scenario.
Will I get a printed result certificate?
No. Because this programme is entirely online, no printed results are sent. The assessment does contain a Certificate showing your result, which you can print if you wish.
If I do not sit IntegrityMatters every five years, will I lose my membership?
Members are encouraged to retake IntegrityMatters at least once every five years. However, you will not lose your membership if you fail to do so, provided you have met all other ongoing membership requirements – including passing IntegrityMatters before being admitted as a member, and logging integrity and ethics CPD on an annual basis.
Please note that student members do not need to pass IntegrityMatters or log integrity and ethics CPD in order to maintain their membership.
How much does IntegrityMatters cost?
IntegrityMatters is free for Members (except Student members).
The assessment can be purchased for £25 by non-members enabling users the opportunity to complete the workshop and an IntegrityMatters assessment once. Should any users wish to re-take the assessment, they are welcome to re-purchase the product.
How do I access past certificates?
If you have taken IntegrityMatters prior to the 4th of November 2026, please click here to download your certificate. This will be available until the end of 2026.
