The European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) is a European Union law which is designed to increase the stability of over-the-counter derivative markets throughout EU states by increasing transparency and reducing counterparty risk. EMIR also establishes common organisational, conduct of business and prudential standards for central counterparties and trade repositories.
